Sprint version of Google Nexus One coming soon
Today Sprint said that a Sprint version of Google's Android powered Nexus One is on its way. The carrier has not yet announced pricing or a release date, although we suspect it could be a similar time frame as Verizon Wireless' Nexus One, due out this summer. Samsung updates I5700 Galaxy Spica to Android 2.1
Today Samsung announced that Android 2.1 is available for the I5700 Galaxy Spica smartphone. Owners can upgrade using Samsung's PC Studio 7 software, which is available from www.samsungmobile.com. Android 2.1 includes pinch-to-zoom inside its browser, gallery, and maps application. It also includes enhancements to homescreen widgets, a more attractive main menu, and more. Motorola DROID Android 2.1 upgrade rolling out
Today Verizon Wireless posted a PDF document with instructions on how to upgrade the Motorola DROID to Android 2.1 The latest update, version AP:ESE53/BM: C_01.3E.03P includes pinch to zoom support for the browser, gallery, and Google Maps. It also adds live wallpaper support, voice-to-text entry, enhanced weather and news apps, and a host of improvements. There are also reports that Verizon Wireless will issue an over-the-air update beginning on Thursday.

AT&T ZERO Charger eliminates vampire power drawing
Today AT&T announced a new eco-friendly charging solution, the AT&T ZERO Charger. The device helps conserve energy by eliminating "vampire drawing," which happens when a charger pulls power even when it's not needed. The device uses a USB connection, allowing it to work with most cellphones. The charger will be available in May and will cost the same as replacement chargers do.

BlackBerry Push Service open to all BlackBerry developers
Today Research in Motion (RIM) announced that developers working with the BlackBerry platform can now use BlackBerry Push to quickly deliver up to 8KB of content to customers. BlackBerry Push also provides users with notifications about applications that are running in the background. Developers can visit blackberry.com/developers/pushservice for more information.

Google enables gesture search on Android 1.6
Two weeks after announcing gesture search functionality for Android 2.0, Google has announced that the application is now available for Android 1.6 smartphones. The software allows you to search your Android device by swiping your finger across the screen. It's available now in the Android Market or on Google's mobile blog.

Motorola CLIQ XT Android smartphone launches on T-Mobile for $129
T-Mobile launched the CLIQ XT today for $129 with a 2-year contract. The Android powered smartphone follows the original CLIQ XT but ditches the QWERTY keyboard and adds a few unique multimedia features. We'll have our review up shortly.
