While details are slim as to when Verizon Wireless will push out the Android 2.1 update to the Motorola DROID, the patch will include a few welcome new features, according to Engadget.

According to Engadget's sources, the update will add support for multitouch in the Web browser, news and weather homescreen widgets, and pre-installed Google Goggles. Some user interface touches will be left out, however. The active wallpapers and 3D icon list found on the Nexus One's build of Android 2.1 may not be included. [via Engadget]
