Today HTC announced its 7 Mozart, a Windows Phone 7 powered smartphone. I had a chance to meet with HTC to check out the device and get a first-hand look.

The 7 Mozart offers a 1GHz processor, and its speed was noticeable from the start. Everything loaded fast and it zipped through menus without a hitch. Its 3.7-inch display was beautiful and had a sharp 800 x 480 pixel resolution.

The 7 Mozart has a beautiful design, too, with a chic back cover that has an aluminum finish running across it. The battery cover is unique, too, in that you can pop off just one side to pop the battery out.

The back of the phone is home to an 8 megapixel camera with a true Xenon flash. That's the most megapixels of any phone that was announced during Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 event today.

The 7 Mozart hasn't been announced for a U.S. carrier yet, but it's one of the more high-end of the devices that was spotted today. Stay tuned for our hands-on video.
