Nokia rumored to be preparing swiveling QWERTY feature phone for Verizon

Rumors by Ricky Cadden on Monday April 13, 2009.

Please note that this story is based upon rumor and/or speculation.

Nokia is believed to be working on a swiveling feature phone for Verizon, due to launch in July or August. According to Boy Genius Report, this new phone takes some inspiration from Nokia's E71 smartphone, with a full QWERTY keyboard that appears when you swivel the phone open.

Boy Genius Report's source claims this phone will use Nokia's S40 user interface, though, which we're hesitant to believe. Verizon developed its own feature phone user interface a few years ago, and has not released a non-smartphone with the manufacturer's user interface since then. The carrier also recently launched the Nokia 7205 Intrigue, which used this custom Verizon user interface, rather than Nokia's S40 interface.
