Opera possibly announcing major deals with U.S. carriers
Rumors by Ricky Cadden on Monday March 23, 2009.
Opera Software told Forbes magazine recently that the company is planning to announce major carrier deals next week at the CTIA conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Opera Software is the company behind the Opera Mini web browser, which allows most cell phones on the market today to browse the full desktop internet.
Opera Mini uses powerful servers to process internet web pages, and then send a smaller version to the cell phone, allowing for faster browsing and additional capabilities across different phones. While Opera Software did not give Forbes any details, it is likely that the announcements will either include one or more of the major U.S. carriers licensing Opera's technology, or simply pre-installing the Opera Mini web browser onto phones as part of the carrier's branding.
