LG DVB-H TV Phone Heading To Hutchinson 3G Italy

Rumors by Michael Oryl on Wednesday February 15, 2006.

Please note that this story is based upon rumor and/or speculation.

The handset shown above, hidden behind black plastic covers and masks, appears to be a new handset that is slated for Italy this May. The as-yet unnamed device supports triband GSM on the 900/1800/1900Mhz network bands as well as UMTS on the 2100Mhz frequency band.

Other features include a 262k color display with 240x320 pixel resolution and the ability to rotate into wide screen format. The device also comes with Bluetooth support, a 1.3 megapixel camera, and a TV-out port.

While LG was willing to tell us that the device was headed to Italy, they would not say for which carrier. According to the LG rep, we should see an announcement in May of this year for the launching of a DVB-H network in Italy, and that the launch was waiting on some regulatory approval. A 3rd party source confirmed for us that the carrier that would be launching the device and service would be Hutchinson 3G, but we obviously can not offer that information as a fact at this time.
