Sprint Launches Bluetooth LG PM-325

LG PM-325 for Sprint PCSSprint is taking another crack at offering a Bluetooth capable handset. The new LG PM-325 that they launched today supports Bluetooth, both for use with a headset and with the DUN profile for using the phone as a modem. The headset functionality alone is going to please many Sprint users that have been waiting for a chance to catch up with the rest of the world. Heck, even Verizon in the US has been offering the Bluetooth capable Motorola V710 for some time now.

[I have to apologize for having posted the wrong version of this story initially that stated a lack of DUN profile support. I have yet to get confirmation from Sprint or LG media people about the presence of 1xRTT data, or lack there of. -editor]

So we're really pleased to see that not only is Sprint getting into the game, but LG is dipping their toe into the water a bit, too. So far, LG has been a relatively minor player in the Bluetooth scene.

The new PM-325 is a slider style handset, but one that is quite unlike the Siemens SL55/65 style we have grown used to. The PM-325's sliding keypad moves to reveal a large display that is partially hidden when the unit is closed. The PM-325 is capable of roaming off of Sprint's network and onto other CDMA and AMPS analog networks, and it does so while making use of an internal antenna.

We are still trying to obtain all of the details on the PM-325 and will update the specs chart as we find out more.
