Today Samsung announced the i9000 Galaxy S, an Android 2.1 smartphone that sports an incredible 4-inch 800 x 480 pixel AMOLED screen, a 1GHz processor for HD video playback, and a "Social Hub," for staying connected with your socail networks.

The AMOLED screen features the mobile Digital Natural Imagine engine (mDNIe) which Samsung also implements inside its LCD and LED televisions. mDNIe provides crisper image quality on-screen.

The phone measures 122.4mm x 64.2mm x 9.9mm (4.81in x 2.52in x .38in) also comes with the Swype virtual QWERTY keyboard for quick and accurate text input, ThinkFree for opening and editing Microsoft Office 2007 documents, and a cradle that lets the device double as a photo frame, alarm clock, calendar, or music station.

It's also equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, aGPS, an accelerometer, support for 802.11b/g/n WiFi networks, and Bluetooth v 3.0.

It remains unclear when and where the device will land on store shelves and how much it will cost.

Love that is has a 4" screen! Please tell the makers of cell phones that us "baby boomers" really want phones that have larger buttons (to see the buttons without our "reading glasses"), and that they are user friendly in terms of how to access software, etc. This looks like it may be a "start" ...

Samsung have announced their latest Android smartphone, the Galaxy S, and it?s running Android 2.1. It has got FM radio. Looks to be a good phone, although a little bigger than the iPhone, but I think it?s lighter.

Hi everyone, upgraded myself to this sleek Samsung Galaxy S i9000, after lots of research, it was a tough decision as all the similar latest models had almost similar features, the fast speed 1GB hummingbird processor, good battery life, excellent GPS features & really amazingly clear screen made me decide to select this model over others. Since almost over five weeks of usage no call drops, no phone hangs or freezes, no sync problems, has given me true satisfaction of my wise decision to pick this phone. Wi-Fi & blue tooth usage has much less battery drain compared to its competitors (no names please). Video calling is charm on this phone 'cos of 1GB processor. Radio usage reception is excellent almost always. With 32GB memory, watched AVATAR in HD on my i9000 and at end of it I used 50% battery - not bad eh! Amazing masterpiece created by Samsung Galaxy S team. Overall performance is excellent for my usage. My advice buy the model which suits your usage habits, this model for sure is way ahead of others per my personal research, usage & satisfaction.
