U.S. Cellular launches Motorola Quantico rugged clamshell phone

Snapshot by Brian James Kirk on Thursday November 12, 2009.

U.S. Cellular has launched the Motorola Quantico, a rugged clamshell handset built to military specifications, designed to withstand water submersion and tough weather conditions.

Following military specs, the Quantico can survive submersion of up to one meter of water for thirty minutes. The Quantico's casing, made from chrome, glass and rubber, is build to survive extreme temperature, dust, shock, and poor weather conditions.

The phone features Bluetooth for use with hands-free headsets and headphones, features a 1.3 megapixel camera, and has support for microSD cards, as well. GPS technology gives the handset turn-by-turn navigation functionality. Finally, a speakerphone helps users communicate in many settings.

The Motorola Quantico is available now from U.S. Cellular for $99.95 after a two-year customer agreement and mail-in rebate.

Like the barage and the v750, The head phone jack is in the worst possible location....Bottom Right hand corner. Seems to be by design for the purpose of forcing you into use of blue tooth. I have called Motorola many times and they act like they do not know what i am talking about. Also the sound quality tru the plug in jack is horrible on my v750. We should have the choice if we want to use a blue tooth or not
