Sprint has announced the Samsung SPH-i350 Intrepid, a Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional-powered smartphone with 3G EV-DO Rev. A. connectivity for the Sprint network and quad-band GSM support for use on international networks. The device comes complete with WiFi technology for high speed local connections.
With the Intrepid, users can type email, SMS, and instant messages using its full-QWERTY keyboard. A 2.5-inch QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) touchscreen display should show off the phone's customizable home screen. Users can snap photos or shoot video with the Intrepid's 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, or listen to music with stereo Bluetooth for wireless headphones. Of course, they also have access to Microsoft's Mobile Office software which will allow them to view and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files.
The SPH-i350's mobile operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5, features many new features. Internet Explorer 6 offers a touch-friendly user interface for the web with Adobe Flash support. Windows Marketplace for Mobile will allow users to download third-party applications and Microsoft My Phone will let users back-up their device to a cloud service.
The Samsung SPH-i350 Intrepid will be available on October 11 for $149.99 after a two-year customer agreement and $100 mail-in rebate.
