Motorola's V710 CDMA Flagship
Snapshot by Siddharth Raja on Monday May 31, 2004.

The Motorola V710Motorola's recently announced V710 is one of the most advanced clamshell phones yet to be released. CDMA users have historically had to put up with a lack of high tech handsets, but that is about to change with the V710. The V710 boasts a 1.2 megapixel camera with zoom and flash functionality, MP3 playback, memory card expansion, and even Bluetooth.
The V710 will be one of the first megapixel cameras on the market. It will include a 4x digital zoom, LED flash for night photos, video clip recording of up to 3 minutes, and a large 16MB memory capacity to store all those high-res photos. It is also one of the first handsets to include support for the new TransFlash memory format, which will be available in capacities of up to 1GB.
Having a good camera is useless without an equally good screen to match, so Motorola has included a large 262K color TFT screen capable of displaying 176x220 resolution. The V710 also has an external color display with picture caller ID support, allowing you to "see" who's calling before you open the phone.
The V710's audio features are just as good, with a MP3 player, MP3 and MIDI ringtones support, 64 chord polyphonics, and a speaker independent voice recognition system that allows users to voice dial without any training.
Motorola is also pitching the V710 to business users with features like integrated hands-free office-quality speakerphone, built-in PIM functions, PC sync, and CDMA 1x High-Speed data. Full email and messaging support is also included.
The Motorola V710 provides serious competition for Nokia's 6255 CDMA phone, due to be released around the same time. North American users can expect the V710 to appear at the end of Q2, which isn't too far away.
