Today T-Mobile USA officially launched its second Android powered smartphone, the myTouch 3G. The myTouch 3G is a device based on the popular HTC Magic that has been selling in other parts of the world on Vodafone and other networks for a few months now. It sports a large 3.2-inch half-VGA (320 x 480 pixel)
The myTouch 3G features GSM/EDGE connectivity as well support for 3G HSDPA networks, as its name suggests. Built-in WiFi is also there for when 3G data isn't available. The myTouch 3G features a full HTML web browser, Google's voice powered search, as well as YouTube, Google Maps, and Picasa integration.
Multimedia features include a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and a music player application that supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, WMA, OGG, and RM media files. Photos, videos, and music can all be stored on the myTouch 3G's included 4GB microSD memory card. New applications can be easily found on the Android Market app store, and the phone also support Bluetooth wireless accessories, including wireless stereo headphones.
For the email hungry out there, the myTouch 3G includes not only Google's Gmail application, but also built-in Microsoft Exchange server support, just as we've seen on some of the Asian market versions of the HTC Magic. Instant messaging support for Gtalk, AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo! messaging is also included, and there is even a voice dialing application and speakerphone for truly hands free phone calls.
T-Mobile has said that the myTouch 3G will be available for pre-order by existing T-Mobile customers starting on July 8, 2009 for US$199.99 with a two year contract extension. The device is set to be available in stores in "early" August in white, black, and merlot colors schemes.
