Samsung has announced the Solid Extreme rugged candybar phone, tested to withstand tough outdoor conditions.

Whether users are rock climbing or canoeing, working outside or in a warehouse, the Solid Extreme can survive all types of severe weather. With an IP rating of 57, the Solid Extreme can withstand dust and water submersion up to two meters, along with cold and wet weather.

The phone features a flashlight torch, a loud speaker, acoustic noise cancelation, and comfortable rubber grips for holding on to. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera that can snap photos or shoot video, an MP3 player, and an FM radio. Music lovers will appreciate that the Solid Extreme has Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR support and a microSD card slot for expanded memory.

The Samsung Solid Extreme supports quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and will be available in the U.K. on Vodafone and O2 this month.
