Today Spb Software announced the availability of its new Spb TV application for Windows Mobile. Spb TV is a streaming TV application that provides users not only with access to streamed TV channels from all over the world, but also provides program scheduling information for many of the channels.

The application is available in both free and paid forms. The free version has no limit to the amount of time it can be used, but does feature a reduced selection of channels and lacks certain functions. The commercial version of the program allows for setting program reminders in the Windows Mobile calendar, faster channel switching, transparent on-screen controls, as well as a full week's worth of program schedules and picture-in-picture support when changing channels.

Unlike many streaming video services, there is no monthly recurring fee for the use of the Spb TV application.

Spb TV is available for US$14.95 direct from Spb Software.

You can see a video of the application running on an HTC S740 smartphone below.

I'm very interested in this type of thing. Ever since viewmy.tv started to lace the market with gadgets and features for external devices, I have been waiting for more to be available. I also love the fact that there is only 1 one off payment; do you know if there will be a VOD feature?
