Nokia unveils 5630 XpressMusic for music collection connoisseurs

Snapshot by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday February 10, 2009.

Nokia has announced its 5630 XpressMusic, a new S60 device in its XpressMusic lineup intended for music lovers. Less than a half-inch thick, the 5630 is a full-featured multimedia device that provides for an enhanced music experience.

Music can be stored on microSD cards and the phone supports external memory cards up to 16GB. A 4GB microSD card comes bundled with the phone. Listen to music through the integrated 3.5mm headset jack or on stereo headsets with the device's A2DP Bluetooth integration. Say and Play allows users to control their playlist by saying their favorite artist or song aloud.

The 5630 XpressMusic works with Nokia's Music Store, allowing instantaneous over-the-air purchases and downloads of a seemingly endless number of music titles. When a user returns home, Nokia Music for PC software will allow for easy transfer and organization of their collection.

Powered by S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, the 5630 XpressMusic allows users to access Contact Bar to directly contact 20 of their closest colleagues, friends, and family. History provided by the contacts feature shows recent emails, messages, phone logs, and shared photos.

The 5630 XpressMusic features a 3.2 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and support for video recording. Users can view their creations on the phone's 2.2" QVGA TFT display or share their photos and video on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook. The 5630 also offers full support for N-Gage games.

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic will be equipped with GSM/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band UMTS/HSDPA (900/2100MHz) support, as well as 802.11b/g WiFi for even faster connections. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is intended for release in China, Eurasia, Europe, India, Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa. It will be available in Q2 2009 with an estimated retail price of 199 EUR (US$258).
