Nokia has announced the Nokia 6700 classic, the sleek candybar cell phone leading the new collection of 2009 Nokia "classic" phones. The phone was designed with precision and features a full metal keymat, smooth stainless steel surfaces, and rich materials. The 6700's technology features are equally meticulous.
The 6700 classic is powered by Nokia's S40 6th Edition operating system, and includes quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) support and tri-band UMTS (900/1900/2100MHz) support with HSPA for high-speed data connectivity.
The 6700's ambient light sensor will ensure that the 2.2-inch QVGA display manages brightness to improve battery life. Uplink Noise Cancellation removes background noise and helps users be heard clearly. The phone integrates aGPS technology with Nokia Maps for assisted navigation (with "Drive & Walk" navigation license).
The 6700's 5 megapixel camera featuring 4x digital zoom, autofocus, and video recording should not disappoint. Eager videographers should consider the phone for its microSD card slot that supports up to 8GB of expanded memory. The candybar phone comes bundled with a 1GB microSD card.
The Nokia 6700 classic comes in silver metallic, matte metallic, or black metallic color schemes. With an estimated retail price of 235 EUR (US$308) before taxes and subsidies, the 6700 is expected to ship in the second quarter of 2009 to Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
