Motorola and T-Mobile have teamed up to announce the Motorola W233 Renew, an environmentally-friendly candybar cell phone. The W233 Renew is manufactured using recycled plastic bottles, and needs 20% less energy to manufacture than average cell phones. Motorola has also committed to partnering with Carbonfund.org to offset the carbon dioxide required to manufacture and ship the W233 Renew.
The Motorola W233 Renew also comes with a prepaid recycling envelope for your old phone in the box, to encourage consumers to recycle their old cell phones. The W233 Renew features dual-band GSM (850/1900MHz) and sports a microSD card slot for expanded storage. The Renew is rated as being good for up to 9 hours of talk time on a single charge and even features Motorola's CrystalTalk noise reduction technology for clear call audio.
Motorola expects to begin shipping the W233 Renew through T-Mobile in Q1 2009, though pricing details were not released, the company said that the cost will be "very reasonable."
