Panasonic G70

The Panasonic G70
There seems to be a trend starting amongst manufacturers to target phones towards female consumers. While Nokia and Motorola have previously released fashion phones (such as the 8XXX series, and the V70), Samsung launched the T500 earlier this year. Panasonic has decided to join the party with the up-coming G70. As with most fashion phones, the G70 is not feature packed, but it makes up for it in aesthetics. It features a 4K color screen, polyphonic ringtones, GPRS, EMS (no MMS), and voice dialling.

One of the main features that Panasonic have included is the special mirror screen. Once the internal backlight is off, the screen turns into a mirror for all your make-up needs. They have also included a “Biorhythm Calendar” which, once you enter your birthdate, provides you with your “emotional, physical, and intellectual” state. Obviously, this is pretty silly, but should be a good party trick. Finally, the G70 also features a clip in the top, which allows users to attach it to their bag.

Although it is a fashion phone, I feel that the G70 is too far behind in technology to sell very well. The Samsung T500, which was released about 6-8 months ago, has a better screen and most of the same features as the G70.

We can expect the G70 to be released in Q1 2004, but no official date has been decided yet.
