Today Sprint and LG announced the new LG MUZIQ ("music"), the successor to the LG FUSIC. Known officially as the LX570 (the Fusic was the LX550), the new MUZIQ is a much slimmed down and improved version of the original.
Like the original, the LG MUZIQ for Sprint supports Sprint's Music Store, which lets users browse for, purchase, and download music directly from the mobile phone. The MUZIQ also ships with a free copy of the Sprint Music Manager for transferring ("side-loading") unprotected music from a PC to the MUZIQ. Other multimedia type features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, support for Bluetooth stereo headphones, and an FM transmitter for listening to the MUZIQ's music on a home/office/car FM stereo.
One of the problems with the original FUSIC was the very poor functioning external music controls. The new MUZIQ fixes that by adding touch sensitive buttons with vibration haptic feedback. When one of the touch buttons is activated, the MUZIQ provides a slight vibration to acknowledge the command. This is very much like the controls found on the new Motorola RAZR2 line of handsets, and it works very well.
From our initial impressions playing around with the device, the new LG MUZIQ seems like a solid upgrade to the original. Sprint will start offering the MUZIQ to consumers on July 15th for US$99 with a two year service agreement.
You'll find more live shots of the MUZIQ, including comparison photos with a FUSIC, on the following page.
