After the success of the X3 Micro, we were optimistic about the entry-level Blueant T8. It is similar in appearance to the X3 Micro, with the teardrop shape and accented multi-function button (MFB), and the features were similarly impressive.
It is a stylish looking headset that is currently only available in one color scheme: a gunmetal grey body with a shiny silver accent and MFB. The volume buttons are a glossy black and they complement the body well. There are blue and red LEDs located inside the volume buttons that by default glow blue when the headset is on, but can be turned off if you want to be discrete.
Battery life was one thing that has been greatly improved upon from the X3 Micro. The Blueant T8 delivered a pleasing 8:45 (hh:mm) of talk time, with an impressive manufacturer's claim of 250 hours (10 days) of standby time. The T8 unfortunately only comes with one charging option, an AC charger. It does, however, use the same charging port as the X3 Micro, making its charging accessories compatible with the T8. The other accessories that accompany the Blueant T8 are two gel ear-bud covers, a foam ear bud cover, an ear-loop, and a user manual.
The T8 measures a tidy 52mm x 26mm x 28mm (2.04" x 1.02" x 1.10") and tips the scales at 13g (0.45oz), making it both a small and nicely weighted headset. The light weight is accentuated when wearing it due to the T8 being exceedingly well balanced. Because of its size and shape, the T8 is a very sturdy headset, and the finish on the unit renders it quite scratch resistant. There is the option of wearing it with or without the ear loops, but we found it to be a little uncomfortable and insecure without them. With one of the two optional ear loops on, the headset was nice and snug and didn't feel like it was going anywhere in a hurry.
The ear-buds did cause some discomfort when worn for long periods, as they are in-ear pieces and protruded a fair way into the ear. For shorter term use we had no problems, as they do have soft covers over them. We also found using the MFB while wearing the headset caused a little discomfort as it pushed the ear buds further into the ear, though it wasn't uncomfortable enough for this to be a deal breaker.
