Heralded as the world's thinnest bar style handset, the new Samsung Ultra 5.9 (SGH-U100) almost disappears when you turn it on its side. Despite the incredible 5.9mm thickness, if you could call it that, the Ultra 5.9 somehow includes a specification sheet comparable to handsets well over twice the size.
Like all the handsets in the new Ultra Edition range announced at 3GSM in Barcelona today, the Samsung SGH-U100 includes a 3.0 megapixel camera. Unfortunately, 3G data has been left behind, with the handset sporting only tri-band GSM with GPRS/EDGE data. While it carries a relatively low resolution of 220x176 pixels, the display is capable of 262k colors and appears quite bright. Though it does not have expandable memory, the 70MB included on board should suffice in most situations.
Due for release during Q1 2007, the Samsung SGH-U100 is a stunning piece of engineering. More live photos of the device are available on the following pages, including shots of the user interface.
