Touch Screen Samsung Ultra Smart F700

Snapshot by Brad Kellett on Thursday February 08, 2007.

Ready for a public debut at 3GSM in Barcelona next week, Samsung has announced its new Ultra Smart F700 handset in Korea today. With obvious inspiration from Apple's iPhone, the Ultra Smart F700 includes a 2.78" touch-screen, but one-ups Apple's design by adding a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The addition of a keyboard is not the only thing the new Samsung Ultra Smart F700 has over the iPhone though, as Samsung's offering also includes a 5.0 megapixel camera with auto focus and HSDPA high-speed data for wireless connectivity at up to 7.2Mbps. Bluetooth is on board, and memory can be augmented with microSD memory cards.

Samsung's Flash-based user interface makes full use of the touch screen, though the 240x440 pixel resolution seems a little low when compared with the iPhone. Users not used to a touch screen user interface will appreciate a feature called VibeTonz, wherein feedback is given in the form of small vibrations in response to presses on the touch screen.

So far, no information on market availability or pricing has been announced, but expect more information to be available next week from 3GSM. MobileBurn will be reporting live from the show floor, where we hope to bring you hands-on photos of the new Samsung Ultra Smart F700. [via Akihabara News]
