Sprint Nextel and Motorola Unleash High-End i880

Snapshot by Brad Kellett on Thursday November 16, 2006.

Coming in at the high-end of iDEN devices, Sprint Nextel has this week launched the new Motorola i880. This update to the i870 is similar to its predecessor, but improves specifications while reducing both thickness and weight.

Generally speaking, iDEN devices are not very well featured when compared to their GSM and CDMA counterparts, but the Motorola i880 has closed that gap. Nextel users can now get a device that features a 2.0 megapixel camera, the best out of any iDEN device thus far. Music is also covered, with external controls, stereo speakers, and a microSD memory card slot for storage. The Motorola i880 is compatible with WiDEN for high-speed data transfer, and features speakerphone functionality and an auto-opening hinge mechanism.

The Motorola i880 is currently available from Sprint Nextel for US$299.99, including US$150 instant savings, a US$50 rebate, and a two-year service agreement.
