Kyocera's new K822 Music Phone

Snapshot by Brad Kellett on Sunday April 09, 2006.

Kyocera announced a new music-focused handset at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas earlier this week: the clamshell style K822.

The tri-mode CDMA Kyocera K822 has a more subtle design than a lot of the company's work, yet still retains the Kyocera look. The mid-range music phone sports audio playback control keys on the outside of the flip, underneath a 4k color CSTN external display. Inside, a 1.9" 262k color screen adorns the top of the handset. The Kyocera K822 also features a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 1.2 (with A2DP stereo headset support), and an infrared port.

MicroSD cards can be used to store music, with the Kyocera K822 supporting Windows Media DRM files, as well as unprotected formats such as MP3/AAC/AAC+. Music can be played either through a headset, or through the built in stereo speakers. An FM radio is also included.

The Kyocera K822 should retail for around US$140 after operator subsidies.
