Siemens Introduces Thin, Simplified CC75

Snapshot by Brad Kellett on Friday August 12, 2005.

Siemens announced yesterday its new low end handset, the CC75.

The Siemens CC75 has been deliberately stripped of features according to Siemens. Apparently, this is to cater for a market where people do not want their mobile handsets to be incredible, do everything devices, but instead just want them to get the basics right. It may be hard to believe for the gadget lovers, but this market does indeed exist.

The Siemens CC75 has no camera, no Java applications, no memory expansion, not even an inbuilt speaker phone. What the CC75 does have, however, is a stylish design, and all the basic phone features, including SMS and MMS messaging. The Siemens CC75 is thin and light, has a 65k color display, and a clear and logical menu design featuring enlarged fonts to make it easier to read. Though it is a bit of a puzzle as to how you could complicate the menu of a phone with so few features.

Siemens says that the CC75 will be in the "medium price range."
