The Nokia product release train shows no sign of slowing down any time soon. The latest two releases, the 1100 and the 1600, are entry level devices aimed at the developing telephony market in areas such as Kenya (where the products were launched). While the 1110 is the cheaper of the two, the Nokia 1600 packs in a few more bangs for your buck.

The most noticeable difference between the 1110 and the 1600 is the display - while the 1110 features a monochrome unit, the 1600 comes with a colour screen, capable of showing up to 65,536 colours. The ability to use your own wallpapers and create themes for the phone should help get the most out of the improved screen, as will the animated colour screensavers.

The 1600 also features chrome details and a more refined look than the 1110, with the keypad split into three distinct sections yet still retaining the easy-to-use four way joystick seen on the 1110. As a result, the 1600 comes in 5g heavier than its sibling, with a total weight of 85g.

Outside of the colour screen and slightly different shape, the Nokia 1600 has the same feature list as the 1110, meaning it can support 20-voice polyphonics and also features the same graphical demonstration mode and icon-based menu system. Both phones also feature a talking alarm clock and the ability to display either an analog or digital clock.

As with the 1110, the Nokia 1600 doesn't support Java games but will instead feature three of the following games - Snake Xenzia, Dice, Cricket Cup, Pocket Carrom, Soccer League, Adventure Quiz or Rapid Roll. The exact game selection depends on which area you live in, although it's a reasonable bet that Nokia's old favourite Snake will feature across the world. The phone also comes with a chat client called Instant Messaging, while Chinese customers will instead receive Mobile QQ.

As with the 1110, the Nokia 1600 should be available worldwide in Q3 this year and carries a recommended retail price of 85EUR before the usual subsidies and taxes.
