At CTIA 2011 in Orlando Florida, Samsung introduced a a revised version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 previously announced at MWC, which Samsung claims to be the thinnest, lightest and most feature-packed 10-inch tablet on the market.
The 10.1-inch tablet, weighing in at 595g (20.9oz), is only 8.6mm (.33in) thin, with dimensions of 256.6mm (10.1in) x 172.9 (6.8in). The Galaxy Tab 10.1 features Samsung's TouchWiz user interface running on the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system. The slate will have versions that support HSPA+ network speeds of up to 21Mbps at the 850/900/1900/2100 bandwidths, along with Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11(a/b/g/n) connectivity. The tablet will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, and hold a 6800mAh battery. The slate offers 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage with microSD support for up to 32GB.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes pre-loaded with Readers Hub and Music Hub, which gives users access to over 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspapers (across 49 languages), 2,300 magazines (across 22 languages), and more than 13 million songs. The tablet also comes equipped with Samsung's Social Hub, which aggregates email, instant messaging, contacts, calendar and social network connections into one unified interface.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 sports a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, with HD video capture at 1080p. The slate also offers support for Adobe Flash Player 10.2, a feature that is unavailable on the iPad 2. The slate's WXGA LCD display has a pixel resolution of 1280 x 800, and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with surround-sound stereo speakers for group enjoyment.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi 16GB and 32GB are priced at $499 and $599 respectively, and should go on sale on June 8. Pricing for the 64GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 has yet to be announced as is information regarding 3G and 4G versions.
