Samsung MM-A800Samsung has released the first 2 megapixel cameraphone for the US market, the MM-A800. The A800's camera, as well as featuring traditional features like a flash, digital zoom, and multi-shot capabilities (up to 16 in one go), can also directly print pictures when hooked up (via USB) to a PictBridge enabled printer.

Outside of the camera, the A800 also features a vibrant 262k colour screen with a resolution of 240x320 pixels, all the better to watch TV via the Sprint TV service, offering video on demand at up to 15 frames per second. Alternately, the A800 can also take its own videos of up to 30 seconds in length. The A800 can also function as a media player, capable of playing AAC audio files either from internal memory or an inserted TransFlash/microSD card (cards of up to 512mb in capacity are supported, allowing for a reasonable number of tracks to be stored or streamed directly to the handset).
The A800 also includes a speech-to-text engine, meaning text messages can be created, addressed, and sent entirely by voice. The technology, called VoiceMode, also constantly adapts itself to your voice, meaning the more it is used, the better it gets at recognising what you're saying.
The A800 features Java technology and customisable picture ID, allowing you to link either images taken with the camera or downloaded pictures to individual contacts in your phone book (which itself supports up to 500 entries).
The A800 has a suggested retail price of $349 after rebate from Sprint PCS.
