Jabra Debuts First-Ever Convertible Bluetooth Stereo Headset
Press Release posted by Michelle Ruhfass on Tuesday January 09, 2007.
The Jabra BT8010 Bluetooth headset creates a new category for wireless mobile and stereo music headsets
CHICAGO (January 8, 2007) Jabra, the world leader in innovative headset solutions, today announced the launch of the ground-breaking Jabra BT8010 convertible Bluetooth stereo headset. The Jabra BT8010 is designed for consumers that demand a high-performance Bluetooth headset but also want the ability to adapt their headset into a fully functional Bluetooth stereo headset.
The Jabra BT8010 provides advanced Bluetooth headset functionality including a personalized phonebook and caller ID. With the addition of an attachable stereo unit, the Jabra BT8010 becomes a high-performance stereo headset enabling users to switch seamlessly between their phone and listening to music.
"We set out to create a headset that combines high performance mono and stereo headset functionality with the design users have come to expect from Jabra," said David Wood, senior vice president and general manager for GN Netcom / Jabra North American operations. "The Jabra BT8010 incorporates the most advanced features available in a headset while also offering a unique set of customizable tools that are easy to use. The seamless functionality of the product makes listening to music and taking calls as simple as can be."
The Jabra BT8010 offers up to 10 hours of talk time, up to 6 hours of streaming music and up to 300 hours standby time. The headset features Bluetooth 2.0, the latest in wireless mobile technology that provides enhanced usability with longer talk time and a clearer signal due to increased bandwidth. The Jabra BT8010 receives and plays Bluetooth stereo streaming audio direct from mobile phones or music players that support the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) for stereo sound and the Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) for remote control from the headset.
"The mobile music market is rapidly evolving as consumers look for the latest wireless solutions to help simplify their lives," said Wood. "The growth in the mobile music market can be attributed to consumer appreciation of the versatility and convenience provided by multi-functional products like the Jabra BT8010."
According to IMS research, the number of phones capable of playing music is set to double in the next two years, reaching 700 million units worldwide in 2008. The market for mobile headsets using Bluetooth is driven by consumers using the technology in a wide variety of ways including mobile music phones, MP3 players and portable game units.
The Jabra BT8010 is simple to operate with features such as auto-pairing for an easy connection to mobile phones and a jog wheel for navigation of the headset's menus. The Jabra BT8010 has a Multipoint connection which allows simultaneous connection to two devices such as a PC and a phone, or music player and phone. The headset also comes with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology that provides ultra-clear audio quality.
