Sony Ericsson Introduces Fashionable Clamshell Phone for North America; Sony Ericsson Z520a Incorporates Bluetooth(TM), Camera and Cool Curves

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Ericsson today announced a fashion-conscious camera phone that works worldwide.
The high-tech features of the Z520a are housed in the sleek body of an elegant clamshell, creating a small and inviting camera phone that fits in the hand as easily as it does in a pocket or purse.

The Z520a, a quad-band handset, delivers a complete mobile experience at an attractive price point. The handset is packed with features including:

Designed to support busy social and professional lifestyles, the Z520a keeps consumers updated on important meetings, as well as instantly informed on who is calling. The device supports PC synchronization which allows you to download contacts and calendar appointments directly to the device. You can assign a picture to incoming calls with the photo phonebook feature. The special lighting effects on the phone's perimeter flash in eight different patterns and can be assigned to alert you to important calls.
The phone includes a media player supporting MP3 and AAC standard file formats to listen to tunes through the built-in speakerphone or portable handsfree earphones as well as play, download or stream video content.
The Z520a offers a VGA camera with 4x digital zoom to capture pictures and video clips with the phone either open or closed. The camera lens is on the same side as the external screen, which acts as a reference viewfinder, so you can easily frame shots. When the phone is open, the 1.8 inch TFT display shows photos at full resolution.
The Z520a comes pre-loaded out of the box with "New York Nights"(TM) from Gameloft. With PlayNow(TM) functionality, downloading additional games and ringtones is easy. You can preview games or listen to ringtones through the speakerphone or stereo portable handsfree, then just click to download. The Z520a has 16MB memory to store hundreds of ringtones, pictures or video clips -- so the fun never ends.
The Z520a makes sharing your fun and staying in touch easy with SMS, instant messaging, e-mail. With QuickShare(TM), pictures and video clips can easily be sent via Infrared, Bluetooth or MMS.
Accessories for the Z520a include a range of Bluetooth wireless headsets, car hands-free kits and a hand strap. Style-Up(TM) covers for the Z520a are available in a range of colors including Pale Blue, Sandy Grey, Ceramic White, Espresso Brown, Peach, Mint, Pale Yellow and Pale Pink.
The Z520a will be available for North American consumers in the third quarter of 2005.
