Skyfire acquires kolbysoft, plans Skyfire for Android

News by Todd Haselton on Friday February 12, 2010.

Skyfire, the company behind the popular Skyfire browser for Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile devices, acquired kolbysoft, a company that develops the Steel browser for Android.

Skyfire hopes the acquisition will allow it to blend its browser prowess with what kolbysoft has already done on top of the Webkit browser on Android.

Steel will still be supported, but upgrade to it will be offered through future releases of a new Skyfire Android edition browser.
