FTC to review Google's $750 million acquisition of AdMob

News by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday December 08, 2009.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the Federal Trade Commission will review Google's recent $750 million acquisition of mobile advertising company AdMob, according to people familiar with the matter.

The responsibilities of reviewing the deal are apparently being placed in the hands of the FTC instead of the Justice Department. Both regulators are responsible for enforcing anti-trust laws, though there is no sign that the agency has found any potential objections to the acquisition.

Google announced the deal in early November, as we reported. Google CEO Eric Schmidt told customers to expect more ads in Google's content on smartphone devices. [via mocoNews]
