Google adds support for coupons to Local Search on mobile devices

News by Michael Oryl on Tuesday November 24, 2009.

Google has announced that it is now making coupons from its local search service available on mobile devices. Previously the coupons were only accessible from the desktop version of Google Search, and they had to be printed to be used.

In order for a coupon to be available for a business, the business must create a profile in the Google Local Business Center and create a coupon. Once that has been done, any user that find the business through a local search on their desktop computer or mobile phone will see the coupon when they access the company's place page. Mobile users can then just show the coupon directly to the business on their phone's display to take advantage of its offer.
