Palm Pre touchscreen smartphone now available for $79.99 at Amazon

News by Brian James Kirk on Monday November 23, 2009.

Sprint's Palm Pre smartphone has been significantly reduced in price at some third-party retailers, including Amazon.com, Engadget Mobile reports.

The webOS-powered device, with a touchscreen display and slide-out full-QWERTY keyboard, is now available for $79.99 at the online retailer. The new price point rivals the Palm Pixi, the company's second webOS-powered handset with less attractive technical offerings. The Pixi is available from Sprint for $99.99 after a two-year customer agreement.

When the Pre first launched in Sprint stores, the device sold for $199 with a two-year contract or $549 without a customer agreement, as we reported.
