Sprint changes call forwarding policy, customers can freely use Google Voice, YouMail voicemail

Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Thursday November 19, 2009.

Sprint customers can now take advantage of third-party voicemail services like Google Voice and YouMail since the carrier is no longer charging customers for conditional call forwarding. Forwarding for busy or unanswered calls is free, but unconditional call forwarding still costs the user.

News came yesterday that YouMail is now available to Sprint customers for free, indicating that Sprint's new policy, announced last month, is in effect. Previously, Sprint charged $0.20 per minute for call forwarding. It is the last major carrier to institute a free conditional call forwarding option. [via AndroidGuys]
