Verizon Wireless has announced the Casio G'zOne Rock, a rugged clamshell handset that is resistant to weather extremes, like water, shock, dust, vibration, humidity, and more. The Rock features a 2.0 megapixel camera with an LED flash, Bluetooth technology, and handful of applications built for outdoor use.

Of course, standard apps like V CAST Music with Rhapsody, V CAST Video, and VZ Navigator are available, as well. Users can utilize hands-free headsets or headphones with stereo Bluetooth technology, and store music on microSD cards.

What's most impressive about the device is that it comes with an interesting suite of outdoor-oriented applications. A magnetic compass works with the phone's GPS. A pedometer measures steps and counts time, distance, speed, and energy consumption. Users can see the temperature, follow the sunrise and sunset, and even see information about the tides.

The Casio G'zOne Rock will be available form Verizon Wireless on November 20 for $199.99 with a two-year customer agreement, after a $50 mail-in rebate.
