Samsung announces "bada" mobile platform

Samsung has announced bada, a new open mobile platform that will allow developers to easily create applications across the company's lineup of handsets. Samsung says that it aims to create simple and intuitive user experiences with innovative visual design. The company also wants to bring rich smartphone application experiences to more basic feature phone handsets.

Samsung's bada will launch in December with plans for the first bada-powered phone to launch in the first half of 2010. The platform's third-party applications will be available then through Samsung Application Store. More information is available at bada.com.
