AT&T has announced the USBConnect Lightning, a 3G-enabled USB mobile broadband modem from Sierra Wireless that features HSPA 7.2 data connectivity.

The Lightning enables customers to connect their laptop or netbook computers to AT&T's mobile network, allowing them to check email and access the Internet while anywhere. The device features a lighted design and a swivel hinge for compatibility with any USB drive.

The 3G LaptopConnect from Sierra Wireless will be available at not cost from AT&T on November 22 after a $100 mail-in rebate and two-year commitment with a data plan of at least $35 per month. AT&T plans to launch its high-speed HSPA 7.2 technology in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami before the end of the year.
