Associated Press, Verve launch initiative to help publishers create mobile apps

News by Brian James Kirk on Friday November 06, 2009.

The Associated Press and Verve Wireless have launched an initiative to help publishers easily create white label, branded mobile applications for their editorial content, mocoNews reports. The companies will take a cut of advertising revenue earned by the individual applications in exchange for the application design.

Based on the popular AP Mobile platform, publishers can push their news alongside AP content to customized applications built for mobile phones. The package comes with a content management system that allows publishers to control content, advertising, marketing, and sales functions for the mobile app. Verve is also offering standardized usage metrics data and advertising delivery.

The applications will be available for Android, BlackBerry, iPhone, Nokia, Palm Pre and Windows Mobile.
