Sprint announces basic Sanyo SCP-3810 clamshell handset

Product Launch by Brian James Kirk on Wednesday November 04, 2009.

Sprint has quietly announced its new Sanyo SCP-3810 clamshell handset. The SCP-3810 features a hidden external OLED display, a 2.4-inch QVGA main display, and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

Users can watch the front of their device display pertinent information like time and caller ID when someone calls. After snapping photos with the 1.3 megapixel camera, users can then share or print the photos with Sprint Picture Mail. Threaded SMS messages make it easy to follow conversations with friends and family, too.

With the phone's Scan Life app, it's easy to scan bar codes to display mobile web sites. GPS functionality lets users utilize turn-by-turn-directions with Sprint Navigation or use it to keep track of family members with Family Locator. The SCP-3810 also includes Bluetooth support for use with wireless headsets and headphones. The phone also gives access to Sprint sports services like NFL Mobile Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile.

The Sanyo SCP-3810 will be available in red or black from Sprint. Pricing and exact availability have not been announced.
