Today HTC announced that its new HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5-powered smartphone is available for purchase in Taiwan and that the device will be heading to the United States market in early 2010. The phone is available in Taiwan from Taiwan Mobile, but no carrier deals for the U.S. have been announced.

The HTC HD2 is the first Windows Mobile smartphone to make use of a capacitive touchscreen(INFO) display, just like those used by the iPhone and most Android smartphones. Unlike those devices, though, the HD2's display measures an incredible 4.3 inches across the diagonal. The HD2 is also the first Windows Mobile smartphone to feature HTC's Sense user interface, which was previously only available on the company's Android devices like the HTC Hero.
