Clearwire, Comcast, and Sprint announce WiMAX 4G roll-out in new markets

Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint have announced plans to launch Clear WiMAX 4G mobile broadband in Philadelphia under each company's own respective branding in the coming weeks, followed by a launch in Chicago in November and Seattle in December.

Clearwire and Sprint additionally announced plans to launch WiMAX service in markets in Texas, North Carolina, and Hawaii. In November, the two companies will launch in Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh in North Carolina and Austin, Dallas/Forth Worth, and San Antonio in Texas. Honolulu and Maui in Hawaii will receive service in December.

The announcements would complete Clearwire's plans to roll-out its WiMAX service in 17 markets before the end of the year, as we reported. The company plans to launch in Boston, Houston, New York, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. in 2010. [via mocoNews]
