Acer announces A1 Liquid, its first Android-powered smartphone

Acer has announced the Acer A1 Liquid, the company's first smartphone powered by Android 1.6. The Liquid features a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor for snappy response, a Wide VGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution capacitive touchscreen(INFO) display, and high-speed HSPA data connectivity.

Along with all the benefits of the Android operating system, Acer claims to have developed improved power management for extended battery life and a new user interface, though details are not provided. The A1 Liquid also includes Acer's Spinlets application, which provides free streaming music and video. Few other details have been released.

The Acer A1 Liquid will be available in red, white, and black color schemes. Pricing and exact availability information is not yet available.
