Android-powered HTC Hero for Sprint now available

Newsbrief by Michelle Ruhfass on Sunday October 11, 2009.

The HTC Hero is now available to Sprint customers in the U.S. It is the wireless carrier's first Android smartphone offering.

The Hero is a touchscreen phone that uses the HTC Sense-based user interface, with 7 sliding home panels and Facebook and Twitter integration. The device also features a large half-VGA resolution capacitive touchscreen display, a 5 megapixel camera and camcorder, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm stereo headphone port, and a trackball controller for those that don't want to use a finger for scrolling.

The HTC Hero is available now for US$179, after a $200 instant rebate and $100 mail-in rebate, when purchased with a two-year service agreement.
