Today Sprint announced the Samsung M850 Instinct HD, the carrier's first HD video recording capable device. In addition to its 720p HD recording and HDMI output capabilities, the phone also features a large touchscreen display with an accelerometer, 5.0 megapixel still video captures, and the full suite of Sprint services, including Sprint TV and Navigation.

The blue colored Instinct HD also features an improved web browsing experience when compared with earlier models, thanks to its Opera 9.7 web browser. Like the older models, the Instinct HD also offers live voice search, Visual Voicemail, and stereo Bluetooth wireless support.

The 3.2-inch half-VGA (320 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display might not be able to show true HD video on the phone, but the device does support HD output for viewing videos and photos on an HD television. You can transfer and email those videos quickly thanks to speedy EV-DO Rev. A data and WiFi access.

The new m850 Instinct HD measures 117mm x 58mm x 12.7mm (4.6in x 2.3in x 0.5in) in size and weighs 114g (4.0oz). Its battery is rated for up to 5.8 hours of total talk time from a full charge.

We should be receiving an Instinct HD within the next day and will have our own HD videos of the device posted soon thereafter. The Instinct HD will be available for US$249.99, after rebate, from Best Buy on September 27 and from all Sprint retail channels on October 11.
