News by Brian James Kirk on Tuesday August 25, 2009.

Google's Android Developers blog has announced that the second Android Developers Challenge is now open for submissions. Contest participants will be trying to grab a piece of close to US$2 million in prizes.

$175,00 is being distributed for each of 10 application categories along with a $150,000 overall prize that could give one lucky developer a grand total of $250,000. Developers are reminded that only published APIs should be used in the development process.

Interested developers can submit their applications by browsing to http://market.android.com/adc. The deadline for submission is August 31.

The official Android Developers Blog says "It's very important that your apps only use published APIs." The story above has been edited to say "should" instead of "can". http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2009/08/android-developer-challenge-2-open-for.html
