Palm accepting applications for paid apps on the Pre

News by Michael Oryl on Tuesday August 18, 2009.

Today Palm announced on its developer blog that developers can start submitting paid applications to the Palm App Catalog that is featured on the Palm Pre and its webOS. Palm is starting an e-commerce beta program, and participating developers will be among the very first to offer paid applications on the Pre.

Paid applications will be available initially only in the USA. Developers will receive 70 percent of the purchase price of their applications, while Palm will retain 30 percent to cover its costs, which include credit card processing fees. Applications can only be purchased with a one time fee - there are no subscription plans currently available.

More information is available from the Palm Developer Network Blog.
