Palm Pre now available online from Sprint

Sprint has made its popular Palm Pre smartphone available online for the first time since launching the device in early June. Before today, the Pre was only available in stores, most likely to control supply of the device.

In July, analyst Edward Snyder of research firm Charter Equity Research predicted that Palm is producing 15,000 Pre smartphones per day and that it had already sold 300,000 Pre devices, as we reported. Most analysts at the time were predicting half that sales figure, but Snyder's analysis is notable because he is typically an industry pessimist.

The Palm Pre is available for $199.99 after a two-year customer agreement and mail-in rebate. [via BoyGeniusReport]
