Hands-on with Samsung's T559 Comeback 3G messaging phone for T-Mobile

Product Launch by Michael Oryl on Wednesday July 22, 2009.

Today T-Mobile USA announced the availability of the new Samsung T559 Comeback, a device with an unusual flip form factor, a full 4-row QWERTY keyboard, and dual displays. The 3G capable Comeback is designed with messaging in mind, and includes a configurable messaging key for accessing your favorite messaging function, be it creating a new message, reading your text inbox, or accessing email.

The large internal display on the Comeback features WQVGA (400 x 240 pixel) resolution for messaging and full HTML web browsing, while the external OLED(INFO) 128 x 128 pixel display provides quick access to simpler functions like text messaging and dialing. The Comeback supports Bluetooth wireless headsets and includes a microSDHC(INFO) memory card slot for expandable storage, which should work nicely with the built-in 2 megapixel camera and music player application.

Other features of note include turn-by-turn GPS navigation from Telenav, T-Mobile MyFaves support, and up to 5.5 hours of talk time or 12.5 days of standby time from a full battery charge. You can check out some of the Comeback's features in action in the video below. Expect a full review to be posted soon.

The Samsung Comeback will be available in T-Mobile stores today, July 22, for US$129.99 with a two-year contract. It comes in two color schemes, white with plum, and white with cherry.
