Newsbrief by Brian James Kirk on Thursday July 09, 2009.

IDG News reports that Motorola is laying off more employees in response to the global economic slowdown and company woe. At the end of July, 74 employees at Motorola's Illinois mobile branch will lose their jobs.

The company has already laid off more than 3,000 employees, including 77 employees in its Windows Mobile development division, as we reported in January. The company said it will cut 4,000 jobs in 2009.
